The Ministry of Health, Labour & Welfare (MHLW) oversees medical device reimbursement in Japan. It establishes reimbursement policies, reviews applications, & ensures devices meet safety, efficacy, & cost-effectiveness standards. MHLW works with the Chuikyo committee to evaluate pricing, classify devices, & integrate them into the National Health Insurance (NHI) system for coverage.
