Fueled by deals in China, Asian healthcare funding up in third quarter

According to Galen Growth Asia, Asian healthcare funding rose significantly in the third quarter of 2018. There were 78 deals done in the third quarter for about $1.4 billion. They expect healthcare funding deals to total about $6 billion in 2018.

There were 7 large deals in the quarter, all in China. The top three Chinese companies which raised over $100 million included LinkDoc (Research), Medlinker (online health communities) and Jianke (online marketplace). Two other successful Chinese fundraising was done by DocPrime (telemedicine) and Yitu Technologies (medical diagnostics).

The increased availability of capital for Asian healthcare companies in all sectors will lead to more Asian competitors in the future.
