Ames GrossAmes Gross – President and Founder
Mr. Gross founded Pacific Bridge Medical in 1988 and has helped hundreds of medical companies with business development and regulatory issues in Asia. He is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in the Asian medical markets. In 2008, Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry (MD&DI) magazine named Mr. Gross one of the top 100 executives in the medical business.

Mr. Gross is a frequent contributor of articles on Asian medical issues for Clinica (England), MD&DI (Los Angeles), and other medically oriented journals. He has been a featured speaker on the Asian medical markets at the Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) shows, the Medtrade Home Health Care Exhibition, the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society’s annual and regional meetings, and a variety of other medically oriented meetings and conferences.

Mr. Gross has a BA degree, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia University.

Mary LiMary Li – General Manager (Shanghai)
Ms. Li works on consulting projects in China. Prior to joining Pacific Bridge Medical, Ms. Li worked in a number of senior positions at Johnson & Johnson and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for over 18 years. Ms. Li attended Tongji University (BS) and Jiaotong University (MBA), both in Shanghai. Ms. Li speaks Mandarin Chinese.
Fusayo KobuFusayo Kobu – General Manager (Tokyo)
Ms. Kobu is a pharmacist and works on regulatory affairs and consulting projects in Japan. She has extensive experience working at pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical device companies. Ms. Kobu speaks Japanese.
Website_ChengCheng Wang – Senior Vice President
Dr. Wang has over 20 years of experiences in medical device industry including management, R&D, business development, sourcing, supply chain management, quality system and regulatory affairs, M&A, manufacturing and international collaboration. Dr. Wang has been on the board of directors of several Chinese medical device companies including Wilson Instruments, KangJi Medical, MSB Medical and Surgitools Medical. Dr. Wang graduated from Peking University, Beijing, China in 1986 with a major in physics (optics). He received his Ph.D. in physics (optics) from University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama in 1992. Dr. Wang speaks Mandarin Chinese.
Kaori Yamaguchi – Senior Vice PresidentKaori Yamaguchi
Ms. Yamaguchi works on consulting projects for Japan. Ms. Yamaguchi graduated with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Yamaguchi speaks Japanese.
Joanna Liu – Senior Associate
Ms. Liu manages and oversees PBM’s marketing, and assists with consulting projects. She graduated with a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Yale University. Ms. Liu speaks Mandarin Chinese.
Tran Doan – Associate
Ms. Doan assists with Asian market research and consulting projects. She graduated with a B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, in Mathematics and Economics from Franklin and Marshall College. Ms. Doan speaks Vietnamese.

A few of our Asian partners are profiled below.

Mr. Jang, one of our partners in Korea, has over 30 years of experience in the medical products arena. Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Jang served as the Korea Representative of Sandoz Ltd., Executive Vice President of Korea McNeil, Ltd. / Johnson & Johnson, and President of Schering (Korea) Ltd. Mr. Jang was educated in both Korea and the United States and holds an MBA from Long Island University in New York.
Dr. Imai, one of our partners in Japan, has both an MD and PhD, in addition to being a licensed medical technologist and pharmacist. After studying at the Free University of Berlin, he has worked for over 30 years at various medical companies such as Du Pont and Johnson and Johnson in Japan. Dr. Imai has experience in product registration, sales, tech transfer, IP management, and clinical trials. He has also worked as an independent consultant for the past seven years.
Mr. Patel, our partner in India, received his MBA (Finance) from the Wharton School. He has over 25 years of experience in management consulting, 16 years in a professional firm (5 years as partner) and 10 years in an independent consultancy practice. His specialization is in advising international firms on investing in India. Among the projects he has completed are market studies (including pricing, import and local tariffs, distribution channels and margins, market sizing, competition analysis, industry / market structure, etc.) and/or regulatory reviews for companies with such diverse products as orthopedic implants, laxatives, vitamin and nutritional supplements, and acne care products.
Ms. Chiu, one of our partners in China, holds an MBA degree from McGill University. She has over 10 years of experience in medical regulatory issues, business development, and product licensing. In her previous position at Bristol Myers Squibb China as Vice President of Regulatory, Medical, Government Affairs and Business Development, she led a team of 35 scientists including clinicians and new business specialists. She has also worked as a Manager of QC, Technical, and Corporate Development at Smith & Nephew, Inc. Canada where she launched a full line of incontinence products.
