South Korea’s third largest city launches bid to attract biotech

Building on its record as South Korea’s transportation and industrialization hub, the city of Incheon, outside Seoul, is initiating plans to build new facilities to attract international biotechnology companies and research institutions. The planned expansion of the Songdo Global Biotech Cluster will connect the industrial complex with a science park and a nearby hospital. The expansion is part of a push by South Korea to attract biotech. South Korea has awarded more patents to biotechnology companies than any Asian country except for Japan and China.
