In Thailand, medical devices are categorized in 1 of 3 classes in accordance with the ASEAN Medical Device Directive (AMDD). Sometimes, it is difficult to tell if a product is a medical device or not. In some cases, devices may have drug or cosmetic components. If the applicant wants to check on the product classification as a device, they are now able to determine this via a new medical device classification tool on the Thai Ministry of Public Health website. However, this information is not final, and this site is not available in English yet.
