Asia is becoming the chief manufacturing center of the world. China is a powerhouse for sourcing or manufacturing medical devices, components, pharmaceuticals, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). India and Vietnam are two other low cost countries that are developing quickly. In some situations, India and Vietnam can offer costs as low as half of China's. In addition, Western medical companies sometimes choose other Asian countries to source from or to manufacture their medical products.
Despite some newsworthy setbacks, the quality of medical products coming from China, India, and Vietnam is getting better quickly.
