Reimbursement for Medical Devices in Japan
Medical devices are classified into reimbursement categories in Japan to determine pricing. There are 4 main reimbursement categories including A, B, C, and F. A and B are for already categorized medical devices while C and F are new medical device reimbursement categories.
Reimbursement prices for medical devices are revised every two years based on pricing surveys. Keep in mind that the weighted average of the purchasing price cannot be more than 1.5 times higher th an the arithmetic average price in major foreign countries.
