Sourcing and Manufacturing Pharmaceuticals/Drugs in India
Today there are a number of Western pharmaceutical/drug companies sourcing and manufacturing their products in India. The reason for this is twofold — 1) to reduce the cost of finished pharmaceutical/drug products and APIs; and 2) to make or source pharmaceutical/drug products for sale in the growing domestic Indian market.
Finding the right factories, subcontractors, and/or setting up your own facilities locally takes patience and lots of due diligence. How do you know if the supplier is reliable and has quality systems based on international standards? If you help the supplier improve their manufacturing processes so you can import a better pharmaceutical product, how can you be sure that manufacturer will not also sell such products to your competitors?
