India’s Andhra Med Tech Zone Begins Building Asia’s First Medical Device Park

At the end of May 2016, Andhra Med Tech Zone (AMTZ) began building India’s first medical park in Visakhapatnam, India. This new park will serve as a manufacturing hub for companies, lowering production costs by as much as 50%. It will contain manufacturing, testing, and warehousing sectors to support the production of high-end medical devices. AMTZ’s main goals include reducing imports into India and increasing exports of its own manufactured devices. By producing devices domestically in India, healthcare costs could lower significantly, especially in treating serious illnesses.
