Partners
PBM works with a number of partners and strategic affiliates located throughout Asia, each of which has been carefully selected for its expertise and track record of successfully assisting American medical companies to get products registered, increasing sales, establishing joint ventures, performing market research, and other matters. PBM has partners in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. A few of our Asian partners are profiled below. Mr. Jang, one of our partners in Korea, has over 30 years experience in the medical products arena. Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Jang served as Korea Representative of Sandoz Lte., Executive Vice President of Korea McNeil, Ltd. / Johnson & Johnson, and President of Schering (Korea) Ltd. Mr. Jang was educated in both Korea and the United States and holds an MBA from Long Island University in New York. Dr. Imai, one of our partners in Japan, has both an MD and PhD, in addition to being a licensed medical technologist and pharmacist. After studying at the Free University of Berlin, he has worked for over 30 years at various medical companies such as Du Pont and Johnson and Johnson in Japan. Dr. Imai has experience in product registration, sales, tech transfer, IP management, and clinical trials. He has also worked as an independent consultant for the past seven years. Mr. Patel, our principal in India, is an MBA (Finance) from the Wharton School. He has over 25 years of management consulting experience, 16 years in a professional firm (5 years as partner) and 10 years independent consultancy practice. His specialization is in advising international firms on investing in India. Among the projects he has completed are market studies (including pricing, import and local tariffs, distribution channels and margins, market sizing, competition analysis, industry / market structure, etc.) and/or regulatory reviews for companies with such diverse products as orthopedic implants, laxatives, vitamin and nutritional supplements, and acne care products. Ms. Chiu, one of our partners in China, holds an
MBA degree from Mcgill University. She has over 10 years experience
in medical regulatory issues, business development, and product licensing.
In her previous position at Bristol Myers Squibb China as Vice President
of Regulatory, Medical, Government Affairs and Business Development,
she led a team of 35 scientists including clinicians and new business
specialists. She has also worked as a Manager of QC, Technical, and
Corporate Development at Smith & Nephew, Inc. Canada where she
launched a full line of incontinent products.
