Key Staff

Ames Gross - President and founder. Mr. Gross is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in the Asian medical markets. Mr. Gross founded PBM in 1988 and has helped over 200 medical companies with business development and regulatory issues in Asia. Mr. Gross is a frequent contributor of articles on Asian medical issues for Clinica (England), Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry (Los Angeles), and other medically oriented journals. Mr. Gross has been a featured speaker on the Asian medical markets at the Medical Design and Manufacturing shows, the Medtrade Home Health Care Exhibition, the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society’s annual and regional meetings, and a variety of other medically oriented meetings and conferences. Prior to establishing PBM, Mr. Gross gained broad experience, knowledge and contacts in Asia while working at three major Wall Street firms. Mr. Gross has a BA degree, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia University. In 2008, MD&M magazine awarded Mr. Gross as one of the top 100 executives in the medical business.

Jean Huang - Vice President/China Office. Ms. Huang is in charge of our China operation. She graduated with a B.S. from National University of Defense Technology (Changsha, China) and has an M.A. in Business Administration from the University of Alabama. Ms. Huang has worked as a business analyst at FannieMae and has worked in both the United States and China for many years. Ms. Huang speaks Mandarin Chinese.

Momoko Hirose - Vice President/US Office . Ms. Hirose works on consulting projects and conducts research. She graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Brown University. Ms. Hirose speaks Japanese.

Akiko Miyoshi - Senior Associate. Ms. Miyoshi works on consulting projects and conducts research. She graduated with B.E. in Industrial Chemistry from Seikei University (Tokyo, Japan) and has an M.A. in Business Administration from Georgetown University. Ms. Miyoshi speaks Japanese.

Joanna Tseng – Senior Associate. Ms. Tseng works on consulting projects for China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. She graduated with a B.A. from National Taiwan Normal University (Taipei, Taiwan) and has an M.A. in Business Administration from Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA). Ms. Tseng speaks Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese.

Angela Chan - Associate. Ms. Chan conducts research and works on consulting projects. She is also responsible for marketing PBM’s business. She graduated with a B.S. in Biotechnology from The University of Hong Kong and has an M.A. in Journalism from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining PBM, Ms. Chan worked as a Client Executive at an international public relations agency in Hong Kong. She speaks Cantonese Chinese and Mandarin Chinese.

John Minot - Associate. Mr. Minot works on research and writing projects. He graduated with a B.A. in Government and East Asian Studies from Cornell University. He lived and studied in Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan for one year. Mr. Minot speaks Japanese.

Kaori Yamaguchi - Senior Associate. Ms. Yamaguchi works on consulting projects for Japan. Ms. Yamaguchi graduated with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota.

Karrie Wang - Associate. Ms. Wang works on research and writing projects. She graduated with a B.A. from Shanghai International Studies University and has an M.A. in International Relations from Syracuse University. Ms. Wang speaks Mandarin Chinese.

In addition to the key staff members listed above, PBM’s staff in Washington includes staffers from Japan, China, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and the U.S.
